The Bilateral and Multilateral Law Association Week (19 – 23 January 2026)

With an increasing number of families living global lifestyles, whether through personal choice or work, it has never been more important as a family law specialist to promote cross-border legal collaboration.

The inaugural Bilateral and Multilateral Law Association Week is in full swing, with events taking place in London and virtually to highlight the importance of promoting the rule of law and access to justice not just domestically, but around the world.

There are an estimated 40 bilateral and multilateral law associations based in the UK. On (a very wet) Wednesday evening, I attended a special reception hosted at The Law Society of England & Wales, and led by its President, Mark Evans, to represent the Finnish British Law Association.

The evening saw legal professionals from all over the globe unite to champion diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness in the profession. For me, it was a truly valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the UK’s thriving Anglo-Finnish legal community, and to meet so many other inspiring and talented legal professionals proudly doing the same for their own organisations (Japan, Colombia, Ukraine, Poland, France, Nigeria, Algeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, to name but a few).

At Rayden Solicitors, our team has strong links with counterparts in other jurisdictions. Where an international separation is concerned, we will collaborate both domestically and internationally to provide our clients with high quality, tailored advice to their individual circumstances.

Please do not hesitate to contact one of our international divorce lawyers if your situation has an international element to it. We will be happy to help and, if needed, able to collaborate with our international contacts to establish the best way forward for you.

International family law is a complex area, so please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance.
