Nazia Rashid joined Rayden Solicitors as a partner in October 2022 from a city-based firm where she was a partner and member of the family law and dispute resolution department. Prior to then, Nazia was a founding partner in a firm in Canary Wharf, London for 10+ years.
Nazia’s experience covers a wide range of family law issues. Clients come from a variety of backgrounds and include city professionals, business owners and homemakers. Unafraid to issue proceedings if negotiations and mediation fail to achieve results, Nazia will fight tenaciously to protect her clients’ best interests and where appropriate, preserve their lifestyle following separation.
In respect of divorce and financial settlement cases, Nazia routinely represents clients of moderate value assets, where needs are a key issue, to high value assets which involve complex financial settlements. Her cases will regularly feature issues of high conflict, third-party interests, non-disclosure, various forms of abuse, recognition of a foreign marriage or validity of a marriage ceremony, or in matters which involve a foreign matrimonial settlement. Over her years of practice, Nazia has developed a reputation in advising clients who have undergone a marriage abroad and representing clients in financial remedy cases where issues of domestic abuse is a dominant factor.
Nazia’s experience covers children cases where serious allegations of harm and abuse are raised. Nazia regularly acts for clients in complex cases involving serious allegations of harm and abuse, parental alienation and drug and alcohol addiction, relocation (with England & Wales and abroad) and child abduction when children are either wrongfully removed abroad or retained abroad following an agreed period of removal. Nazia has also represented both applicants and respondents in delicate special guardianship matters.

Nazia is referred cases involving issues relating to shariah personal family law and its confluence with English legal principles. She has particular experience and knowledge of sensitivities which will be faced by individuals in certain minority groups, especially for clients originating from the Asian sub-continent or Muslim majority countries. Issues of third party interests, loans from various family members and religious divorce processes, in particular for Muslim communities, will be issues in cases referred to her.
Nazia, who is based in our Epping office, is an accredited Resolution specialist in domestic abuse and advanced financial provision and has an in-depth understanding of the cultural and religious pressure or abuse individuals encounter when their relationship ends.
Over the last couple of years, Nazia has specifically been asked to advise on, or to provide information to legal practitioners at a national level and to members of the public on issues relating to the Law Commission’s work on Wedding laws reform and the on Cohabitation Law reform and the impact on specific faith and non-faith based communities.
