International Networking and Knowledge Building at Consulegis Conference

Partner Abby Westell and Legal Director Lehna Gardiner recently travelled to Cyprus for a conference hosted by Consulegis, a network of lawyers  from all over the globe. Here’s Lehna’s summary of their trip:

In May 2024 Abby and I flew to Cyprus for our first Consulegis conference. Consulegis is a network of lawyers from all corners of the world, from Australia to Zambia and everywhere in between. The conference was hosted by Cypriot law firm LLPO and took place in the beautiful Parklane Hotel just outside Limassol. With Rayden Solicitors having only just joined Consulegis, this was our first conference – and it was apparent on arrival that it was going to be an amazing few days.

The conference was a perfect blend of networking and learning, with opportunities each day to experience Cypriot culture and see parts of this stunning island. Plenary sessions and seminars covered a number of cutting edge topics such as developments in AI, environmental social governance and ‘next gen’ employment issues. These sessions generally took the format of a panel discussion with plenty of scope for knowledge sharing and engagement. One of my favourite sessions was a marketing workshop in which every participant made a one minute video. The AI panel was particularly informative and engaging; by this time next year I have no doubt that AI will be firmly embedded in lawyers’ daily work practices regardless of our area of law.

The atmosphere at the conference was relaxed and informal, making it easy for Abby and I to get to know a large number of the 150 delegates. In just four days we were able to forge meaningful relationships with lawyers from multiple jurisdictions, including France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Malta, Hungary, Argentina, Brazil, USA, Australia and South Africa.

With forthcoming conferences in Switzerland, Brazil, Bulgaria and India over the next few years, we are excited to be at the start of our Consulegis journey and are looking forward to consolidating and expanding on our experience in Cyprus.
