Law Firm Raises over £5,500 for Local Charity in Single Night

The Hospice of St Francis was the worthy recipient of an impressive £5,500, raised at Rayden Solicitors’ annual quiz night last week at Old Albanians Rugby Club.

Over 100 local and London based professionals had their considerable knowledge put to the test by the highly entertaining drag queen Rosie Glow who hosted this the firm’s sixth annual quiz.  All staff at the firm’s St Albans and Berkhamsted offices vote annually for their charity of the year.

Local resident, William Rayden was auctioneer for the night and conducted a rowdy game of Heads or Tails won by Raydens Lehna Hewitt.  Fundraising was boosted by £1,000 as a result of the Barclays Community Matched fundraising scheme.

Carolyn Addison from the Hospice said It was such a fun evening, everyone had a good time and the Quiz was great, enhanced of course by Rosie Glow.  It is so good to be working with such a dedicated team, who are so committed to raising funds to enable the Hospice of St Francis to provide care and support for patients and families when it matters most. I’m looking forward to future events already.”

Her comments were echoed by Senior Partner, Katherine Rayden, who said “The Hospice of Francis provides services for those with life limiting illnesses and their families across Hertfordshire. I am delighted that our staff voted to support it this year.  Some of us have had the opportunity to visit the hospice and see first hand the fantastic support they offer on their beautiful grounds.

“We are hugely grateful to our local business community, our professional network in London and Barclays for supporting this event so generously including local companies, Atlas Translations and St Michael’s Manor to name just a few who generously donated to our auction and raffle.”

It was a hotly contested quiz with themes relating to national and international days falling in March. Overall winners on the night were QEB, a barristers chambers from London, who took home the Raydens cup.
